The works are an artistic exploration of origin and identity - el Origen stands for the poetic connection between cultural roots and individual experience.

The works in the collection were created on inspiring journeys through Spain - from Málaga to Valencia, the hometown of the artist's father, to Madrid - as well as in everyday life in the Black Forest. They are characterized by encounters with Spanish artists, gallery owners and personalities, but also by urban impressions and the small moments of everyday life.

At the same time, they are an expression of a deeply rooted biographical tension: growing up between two cultures - his Spanish family of origin and his German living environment - José Schloss experienced the dialog between these worlds at an early age. Personal upheavals, family visits and a constant commute between south and north have had a lasting impact on his understanding of home, belonging and identity.

The style is inspired by large-scale murals - urban works of art - that visually characterize Spanish cities and that have strongly influenced the artist in recent months. The result is multi-layered works that not only convey memories of his Spanish roots, but also incorporate the reality of his German life - as a visual bridge between two cultures, between his origins and the present, between the outside world and his inner experience.
